My name is Abeer Mumtaz and I am a fourth year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto Mississauga, pursuing a double major in Psychology and Biology for Health Sciences. Entering university I didn’t realise how much I would enjoy studying psychology. Every aspect of it fascinates me, from how our environment contributes to our development, to how our minds work and we turn out to be the unique individuals we are. I have a particular interest in developmental psychology, however, I am looking to expand my horizons and learn more about how we develop relationships with others and the psychology behind gift giving. The Shared Secrets Lab at GiftAFeeling will allow me to gain a deeper understanding of social psychology and the relationships we develop with others, and how something as simple as gifting can influence an individual’s, behaviours, thoughts and relationships. I hope to use my writing skills and past psychology research to reach more people and help readers understand more about the psychology of gift giving!
